As a Company Secretary

Clement Ong was trained and then accredited as a Chartered (Company) Secretary by the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA, which is now known as the Chartered Governance Institute), after he passed the International Qualifying Scheme examination in September 2008. This professional qualification is treated as equivalent to honour bachelor degree in Malaysia and as postgraduate degree in United Kingdom.

He was then admitted as a Graduate Member of Malaysian Institute of Chartered Administrators and Secretaries (MAICSA) in September 2008 and elevated and became an Associate Member in August 2010.

A company secretary is responsible for the efficient administration of a company and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements and for ensuring that decisions of the board of directors are implemented. However, Clement Ong does not practice as a company secretary throughout his career, but he does provide corporate secretarial advisory to his clients as part of his legal practice, as well as to his past and current employer’s organisation.
